Dr. Khuram Iqbal (President)
About Dr. Khuram Iqbal
Dr. Khuram Iqbal is currently affiliated as Associate Professor with the Department of International Relations at the National Defence University in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he previously served as the Head of Department from 2020 to 2023. Dr Iqbal earned his doctorate in Security Studies from Macquarie University, Australia, and his Master’s in Strategic Studies from the Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He boasts a rich professional experience at various universities and think tanks in different parts of the Asia-Pacific region. Before joining NDU, he conducted research at the Centre for Transnational Crimes Prevention in Australia and the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in Singapore, with a focus on security issues in South Asia. Dr. Iqbal has also held prestigious fellowships at institutions such as the University of Maryland and the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS), where he examined the global implications of the Belt and Road Initiative. He has contributed as a consultant on Countering Violent Extremism to numerous esteemed national and international organisations, including UNESCO, HSF (Germany), the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), and the US Department of Justice. In 2022, Dr. Iqbal was awarded the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Distinguished Fellowship on Non-Traditional Security.
